Philip BrankinAdjunct Instructor, Theater Studies

Biography

Philip Brankin (he/him) received his MFA in Dramatic Media, specializing in media/projection design, at the University of Georgia where he is completing his PhD in Theatre & Performance Studies. His research involves technological interventions in performance and queer performance strategies in digital spaces.

He received his BFA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Directing at The Theatre School at DePaul University. A Chicago native, he has worked with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Second City, The Piven Theatre Workshop, About Face Theatre, Bailiwick, Chicago Opera Theatre, and Nothing Without a Company. He previously worked as a Young Producer at Contact Theatre in Manchester, England. While there he co-created the Lost & Found Festival of public and site-specific performances across the city.

Most recently he collaborated as co-writer/dramaturg and current project manager on [The Georgia Incarceration Performance Project] presents "By Our Hands" in collaboration with local incarcerated collaborators, Spelman and Morehouse College, and the University of Georgia Special Collections.
